Donation Guidelines

Third World Friends accepts donations Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

School Supplies Needed For Appalachia & Uzbekistan

New and used school supplies are accepted. We ask that the used items be serviceable.   We do ship to various locations where only new school supplies are accepted.

Backpacks, Solar Calculators, Blank Index Cards, Water Color Sets,   File Folders, Crayons, Paper Clips, Pens & Pencils, Colored Pencils, Scissors, Chalk & Erasers, Colored Markers, Small Pencil Sharpeners, Erasers, Glue Sticks, and Bottles of Glue.  Notebooks, Three Ring Binders and Loose leaf paper.

Sporting Goods – Baseballs, Bats & Gloves, Basketballs,  Soccer Balls, Footballs.

Items to Exclude: Text Books.

ACCEPTED DONATIONS

Clothing & shoes for children, women and men – for all seasons.  Jewelry, Glassware, Dishes, Silverware, Knives, Pots & Pans.   Tools: Mechanical & Carpentry, Non-electrical Hand Tools.  Also  Nails.  Linens, Curtains & Pillows.       Small Appliances – such as microwaves, toaster ovens, blenders.   Soft-sided Luggage.  Novels, Bibles, Cookbooks, Children’s Books.  Decorative and Holiday Items (small).   Medium and Small Size Toys & Stuffed Animals.  Games & Puzzles.  Furniture – love seats, couches, tables, dinette tables, chairs, bookcases, small desks,  cabinets.

If you have a piece of furniture you wish to donate & it is not on the above list, please contact us.

GUIDELINES FOR DROPPING OFF DONATIONS

When bringing items to the store, we ask that all donations be clean and in good condition.   Items that need repair or are in poor condition cannot be used by the store nor shipped.   We ask that clothing be delivered in bags and household items in boxes.

We can no longer accept pill bottles!

Due to recalls and expiration dates no baby equipment can be accepted; safety equipment such as helmets & life jackets;  televisions, mattresses, wrought iron fixtures; Computers and printers; exercise equipment;  large hanging lamps, table & floor lamps; food; cosmetics; household chemicals; curtain rods & roller shades; wall hung pictures; textbooks; magazines; encyclopedias; Reader’s Digest; also stained or moldy books.
